My friends and I really enjoyed staying at this house. The photos do not do it justice. The home was beautiful and clean, with very cool features and architecture. Some vacation homes can just be splattered with really weird cabin, Christian, nautical, or generic art but this place felt tasteful and well designed; A lovely pallet to be surrounded by throughout the week. The beach front was incredible and the Adirondack chairs set up away from the beach made for memorable sunset watching every evening. We were lucky to get to rent this home and be so close to the wedding of a friend that was held at the end of the week at shady trails camp. The few downsides include the kayaks being locked up and unable to be used easily, the fire pit being in a dark damp and buggy location, and finally, not fully realizing that there is truly only one bedroom with a door. This is a fine set up for a couple with kids, and all six of my friends and I technically had plenty of room to sleep and stay in the home, but it would have been nice if each of the three couples could have had proper privacy, or if the home could have been listed for cheaper due to the lack of privacy. Overall I have to say I really would come back in a heartbeat, but since my partner and I could never afford to rent the home alone for the week, we would again have to find others to join us who were willing and able to choose a week of vacation w no privacy. Which is fine for some I suppose! But not quite a fit for me ;)

Nice house good views nice beach. A week of sun and relaxation. Definitely recommend. Good company other then the unconstitutional ban of self defense tools during your stay at a unknown and isolated location.

Everything was very well maintained. Like stepping back in time reminiscent of when I was growing up and visiting my grandparents at their lake cottage. The property and location was amazing. Unique home with a wooded trail down to a quiet beach front. Crystal clear waters and long stretches of beach made this the perfect place for long walks, runs, kayaking, SUP boards, or just lazing in a beach chair. Also a great place to ride bikes. Roads up there are peaceful and go on for forever. Only issue was the refrigerator. It did not seem to get cold enough and some of our food spoiled. I'm sure it will be addressed as this home is well cared for. Several restaurants in town to chose from only a few miles away but we cooked at home during our entire week long stay. Cell service was nonexistent (not a bad thing :) but Wi-Fi worked well. Look forward to returning!

Beautiful view of the water from large, many windowed living /dining area. This saved the day since it was rainy and low 40's all week-end. Fortunately, watching the waters of the Great Lakes is an awe inspiring experience in any weather. Thank you so much for allowing dogs! All 3 were content in the large living area and had fun running down the shore when we ventured out into the cold. The location feels pleasantly remote from city life, yet is close to a few small towns (we stopped in Leland, Sutton's Bay and Northport) with interesting shops, restaurants and winery's. Travis City is about 30 minutes away (you drive through it coming and going) and offers many opportunities for vacation fun. The Sleeping Bear Dunes are not that much farther and are a must see if you have the time to be amazed. Only two negatives were the price (it is expensive) and the small fruit fly like insects that can fit through screens. They don't bite or land on you but you can see them flitting around the kitchen. Still, it's a beautiful place and we would like to go there again.

    • Manager Responded on 12/2/2014

Thank you for staying with us. We are sorry about the fruit flies. We do not like them either. They are the annoying fruit harvest guest that we have to tolerate every year. It sounds like you had a good time regardless. Thanks again.

A week of glorious sunsets, beautiful walks along the beach and shared memories. This was a truly magnificent vacation with very adequate accommodations. We would absolutely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a most relaxing vacation! I would recommend bringing a vacuum as the beach does seem to travel with you :)

Christmas Cove is indeed a stunning location. We are happy that you had a great time. Oh that sand...we seem to chase that away constantly, but it keeps coming back. We will look at supplying a vacuum for the rental.

A group of my friends and myself spent a weekend at this property and it was absolutely beautiful. The view of Lake Michigan from the deck was breath taking and the beach was easily accessible. It easily accommodated 6 people. It was extremely well stocked with plates, glasses, cookeware, etc. They also had a very nice grill and firewood for bonfires. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend on Lake Michigan.

A very serene and peaceful location on a bluff above beautiful Lake Michigan. Weather was cool but pleasant for September. Thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet and strolls along the miles of beach. Cottage was well appointed, needed nothing. Very clean, and an ideal location. Grocery shopping in nearby Northport, adventures to Charlevoix, Leland and Traverse City. An excellent vacation, our second year here. I would recommend to anyone, especially since it is pet friendly. Dogs loved it too. (don't forget it has WiFi, too)

This place was an absolute gem. Very peaceful and relaxing. The cottage itself was big enough for six overnight. We did have other family there during the day which was fine. Just crowded. This place had everything we needed, including everything needed to fix a meal, such as bowls, etc. The cottage was very clean. The best part was being right on Lake Michigan. We had neighbors but we still felt it was very private. The beach was beautiful, but rocky. So take your beach shoes to walk the beach. We would defiantly stay again, if not this cottage ( if we need more room next time)then something close by, on the beach. The only negative things were no phone service and we ran out of propane gas in the middle of a big cook out and had to run to town to get a refill tank. But neither were a big deal for us. Also just FYI garbage day is not Wednesday it is Tuesday morning. Sorry we found out too late.

The house was well kept, and met our needs for an extended weekend getaway with our dogs. The view of Lake Michigan was fantastic. The beach was awesome for rock hunting and long walks at sunset. Found a few Petoskey stones too, so my goals were met for a memorable vacation. Close enough to Northport, Leland, Sutton's Bay, Grand Traverse Lighthouse and Sleeping Bear Dunes to round out our trip.

I'd love to tell you to steer clear of this place and keep it all to my self, but that would be wrong... This is a very comfortable cabin and a great place to unplug (no cell service for AT&T or Verizon which was a plus for us). You are close enough to Traverse City, North Port, and Sutton's Bay yet removed enough to enjoy nature. Please note we were here on a rainy weekend in October, so we didn't get the full experience of time on the beach, etc. Still worth the trip!

We had a wonderful week at the house. It was very relaxing and restorative. We especially like the fact that we were there at an off-peak time and frequently felt like we had the beach to ourselves. Our dog has been depressed since we left because he enjoyed the long walks and playing in the water so much.

Loved our stay at the Dome House! Weather was not as summer like as hoped for but a good time was had in spite of it. The house's architecture is very unique and charming. Everything was very clean and well stocked. Neighbors were helpful and friendly too. Beach walks were wonderful. Great location to get away from it all yet just a short drive into town for some great little galleries, book store and eateries.
